Bowls
The first piece most potters ever make is a bowl. And many never go back to them, thinking they are so simple to make. But a good bowl is a work of art as well as requiring a high degree of skill and design knowledge. Tom can talk forever on the beauty of bowls and what makes a good one. His teacher, John Heck, loved bowls, and Tom picked that up. He also watched his home-ec mother, Ruth, use bowls for cooking everyday so they're rooted in those traditionals and fond memories.
