Clay Coyote Pottery-Handmade Clay Pots for Better Cooking and Real Food
Food tastes better when cooked in clay pots. Since 1991, Betsy Price and Tom Wirt (Clay Coyote Pottery), have focused on making handmade pottery for cooking and serving real foods-part of the slow food movement.
Casseroles, chicken bakers, bakeware, cookware, veggie steamers, tableware and dinnerware place settings, platters, mugs, pitchers, mixing, serving and soup bowls; as well as “foodie” specialties like vinegar crocks, cassoles (for cassoulet), couscous cookers, French butter dishes (butter bells) and more.
This year, after 2 years of development, we introduced Flameware, ceramic stovetop cookware…a spanish cazuela, tagine, skillet, saucepan and casserole (daubiere).
Every piece is handmade by Tom and glazed and high fired by Betsy in the studio in Hutchinson, MN. All work is oven and microwave safe, food safe pottery, at affordable prices, for everyday use. We're finding that Clay Pot cooking adds a third leg to the real food, slow food movements. Our food supply, finding local sources and paying attention to what we're eating not only makes us healthier and happier, but helps local economies and, you might be surprised, it's fun to actually be able to name the people who produced the food you're eating and the pots you're cooking it in. Spend some time exploring Michael Pollan, Jill Richardson, Gary Taubes, and take a look at following cookbooks and food books such as Paula Wolfert's new "Mediterranean Clay Pot Cooking" and Jonny Bowden's "The one Hundred and Fifty Healthiest Foods" to bring a whole new dimension to your life. Look at www.localharvest.org to find local food sources. Trust me. It takes some effort, but is well worth it.
